  • Students will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding

of concepts and theories in Educational Sciences.

Students will develop a critical understanding of various research methodologies

     used in Educational Sciences.

Students will be able to read and comprehend scientific research papers in English.

  • General Concepts in Educational Sciences.

A Methodological Guide to Quantitative and Qualitative Research.

Scientific Writing in Educational Sciences: The structure of a research paper and dissertation.

  • Operational Objectives of the Lecture: Types of Scientific Research

By the end of this lecture, students will be able to:

    1. Define the main characteristics of quantitative and qualitative research.

    2. Differentiate between quantitative and qualitative approaches in terms of purpose, data type, tools, and analysis methods.

    3. Identify the appropriate research design for a given research problem or question.

    4. Explain the strengths and limitations of both quantitative and qualitative methods.

    5. Apply theoretical knowledge by analyzing sample studies from each research approach.

    6. Evaluate which type of research is more suitable for specific topics in education and special education.

    7. Use appropriate terminology when discussing research methodologies in academic contexts.

  • Lecture Outline

    • Definition of the research problem
    • The relationship between the research problem, hypotheses, and objectives
    • Characteristics of a good research problem
    • Sources for deriving a research problem
    • Steps for identifying and formulating the research problem
    • Forms and styles of presenting the research problem
    • Common errors in defining a research proble
    •  Evaluating the quality of a research problem
      • Lecture Goals

This lecture aims to enable graduate students in Special Education to:

        1. Understand the concept of the research population and its role in determining the scope and validity of empirical studies in the field of special education.

        2. Differentiate between types of research populations (homogeneous vs. heterogeneous) and identify examples relevant to diverse disability categories.

        3. Recognize what constitutes a study sample and the scientific principles governing its selection.

        4. Identify the characteristics of a good sample, including representativeness, appropriate size, and scientific selection procedures.

        5. Analyze common methodological errors related to sampling in special-education research.

        6. Apply the stages of selecting a research sample, from defining the population to determining sample size, within real cases involving children with disabilities, teachers, and families.

        7. Evaluate sampling techniques and justify the use of specific sampling methods (random, stratified, purposive, etc.) based on the nature of the special-education population.

  • Goals of the Lecture

By the end of this lecture, students will be able to:

    1. Define the concept of previous studies and explain their role in scientific research.

    2. Recognize the importance of previous studies in identifying research problems, building theoretical frameworks, and ensuring research originality.

    3. Identify appropriate criteria for selecting previous studies, including relevance, recency, credibility, and methodological diversity.

    4. Critically analyze previous studies by evaluating their objectives, methodologies, findings, strengths, and limitations.

  • This is the final exam for the first semester.
Download the exam, answer it, and then resubmit your answer in the designated space.
    Good luck! 😎
